Lions Club Mameranus and LuxEnergie Support a Benefit Concert in Aid of ALAN asbl
Following the success of last year’s Christmas concert, the Lions Club Mameranus, the Cantabile Fenteng Choir, the Luxembourg Little Big Band, the Municipality of Hesperange, and LuxEnergie once again joined forces in December 2022 to organize a charity concert in support of ALAN – Rare Diseases Luxembourg. For the concert “Watch What Happens – A Jazzy Christmas Tale”, held at CELO Hesper, the Luxembourg Little Big Band was joined by the soloists Nicole Dielissen and Grace Gnad-Augustin from the Cantabile Fenteng Choir. The main sponsor LuxEnergie supplemented its donation with the proceeds of the benefit concert, bringing the total amount to €15,000. This made it possible to present a generous donation to ALAN.
The Lions Club Mameranus is one of the 25 Lions Clubs in Luxembourg. Guided by their motto “We Serve”, Lions members are committed to helping people who are less fortunate and for whom regular social support is not always available. This assistance may take the form of material or financial aid. The Cantabile Fenteng Choir is a mixed choir of around 35 singers, performing both secular and sacred works. Twice a year, it also organizes charitable events, including a Christmas market and a concert. New singers are always welcome, and rehearsals take place on Monday evenings at the Fenteng Music School.
For more than 20 years, ALAN has been working to improve the quality of life of the approximately 30,000 people in Luxembourg affected by a rare disease. These conditions, which are often genetic, chronic, progressive, and incurable, present affected individuals and their families with many complex challenges. ALAN’s advisory service provides psychological support as well as administrative and social assistance to help in various areas, notably access to healthcare, administrative procedures, social rights, and in the fields of education, employment, family life, and inclusion. In addition to this advisory service, ALAN offers a range of adapted leisure and sports activities and is actively involved in the National Plan for Rare Diseases and in raising awareness of rare diseases.
