The Lions Food Bank
Hunger is one of the first and most painful consequences of the poverty trap.
The aim of the food banks
The objective of the food banks is to give everyone access to sufficient and balanced food, through the fight against waste and the call for solidarity.
The Luxembourg Food Bank, a member of the European Federation of Food Banks, aims to coordinate this action in the Grand Duchy, to animate the network and to represent it to the public authorities and national partners by creating a vast chain of solidarity.
The Food Bank in Luxembourg
The Banque Alimentaire Luxembourg a.s.b.l. was founded on 27.06.2001. Although the Grand Duchy is one of the richest countries in the world, there is a high level of social exclusion.
It was recognised as an establishment of public utility by Grand Ducal Decree of 18 October 2017.
15 tons of food for Ukraine
A convoy to Karlovka and Poltava in the Ukraine with medical equipment and medicines, as well as 15 tons of non-perishable foodstuffs, i.e. 20 pallets, were sent to help the Ukrainians. The delivery of the goods to the Lions Foundation was achieved in record time thanks to the flexibility of the Colruyt Group and the assistance of Wallenborn transport.
