They have donated - 529.000€ over 4 years
On the occasion of an academic session on Tuesday, January 17 at 18:30 at the headquarters of BIL 69, route d'Esch in Luxembourg, researchers from LIH, UNI.LU and LBMCC presented an overview of the work carried out thanks to a series of grants and scholarships offered by the Action Lions Vaincre le Cancer. These grants, amounting to 529,000 Euro, aimed to facilitate the start-up of innovative research projects in the field of brain cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer, leukemia and immuno-oncology. This large-scale funding allowed young scientists to advance their projects during the challenging period of 2019 - 2022.
This is already a second large-scale project, as the Action Lions Vaincre le Cancer had funded researchers working in the field of leukemia in Luxembourg between 2011 and 2017. This first project invested 586,000 Euro in cutting-edge research against acute and chronic myeloid leukemia.
This academic session on January 17 will also be the occasion to present the 16th Kanning Legacy laureate, Dr. Pablo Elias Morande (Luxembourg Institute of Health, Luxembourg). He will present his work entitled: "Evolution and Cancer: a challenge to design new therapies". Within the framework of the "Legacy Kanning", the Action Lions Vaincre le Cancer grants annually one or more post-doctoral research incentives to academics who are committed to research in the field of cancer.
