Lions Club Luxembourg Europe donates 15,000 euros to three associations

The Lions Club Luxembourg Europe has just presented three cheques worth a total of 15,000 euros to three associations, a sum which comes from "social projects" carried out by the club during the 2022/2023 financial year. These included the sale of organic crémant produced especially for our club by Caves Sunnen-Hoffmann under the name "Crémant de Luxembourg Schengen-Europe" (https://sunnen-hoffmann.lu).

In this way, Past-President Marc Loesch and our current President Georges BINGEN were able to donate 5,000 euros to Olivier CONRARDY, President of the Association Aide aux Philippines. Since it was founded after the devastating typhoon of 2013, the association in question has been striving - under the aegis of Mr. Conrardy - to improve the living conditions of the local population affected by the disaster or other dramatic situations through humanitarian aid on the ground. The construction of wooden houses, the installation and access to drinking water, the launch of educational programs and development initiatives are the most important of the activities promoted by this association (www.aidephilippines.lu).

Another cheque for 5,000 euros was presented to Theresia's Orphans and Vulnerable Children Foundation Namibia, an organization that Lions Club Luxembourg Europe has been supporting since 2007. This project, run by a Luxembourger who lives and works in Namibia, cares for children who have lost their parents or whose parents cannot afford to look after them. The aim is to enable these children to live independently without financial support from outside. The association is currently refurbishing its hostel, which can accommodate 24 children, to enable it to carry out other humanitarian activities.

Finally, 5,000 euros are earmarked for Dr Georges KRATZENBERG and his association "Un sourire pour l'Equateur a.s.b.l.", to which our club has been providing financial support since 2018. The aim of this association is to ensure access to dentistry for the population of one of Latin America's poorest countries. It also aims to promote basic dental hygiene, train dentists and provide equipment.
