Lions Club Mameranus
Broad support for promotional projects.
With the proceeds from the traditional “Bichermaart”, the Lions Club Mameranus supports numerous social projects in Luxembourg and abroad.

Under the motto “We serve”, members of Lions clubs around the world provide help wherever it's needed. In the country concerned and, depending on demand, far beyond national borders. This applies, for example, to acute emergencies, disasters, environmental and health problems, and where necessary, to individual destinies.
At the Lions Club Mameranus Annual General Meeting, its Social Committee made it clear in presenting its 2023/2024 Annual Report that for this service club, which celebrates its 35th anniversary next year, the slogan “We Help” is at the top of the priority list.
The Lions Club Mameranus Social Committee, which carefully examines all requests, supports projects in Switzerland and abroad. In the year under review, 62% of the total amount was made available for projects in Luxembourg. A total of 14 projects were supported in 2023/2024. Here are a few examples.
Corneal donations
Corneal donations (cornea is the Latin word for cornea) are managed at the Centre Hospitalier Esch/Alzette by nurses in their spare time. For their unpaid voluntary work, they need a digital camera and a preparation table. The purchase costs of 3,000 euros were covered by L.C. Mameranus.
Supporting disadvantaged young people
One of the aims of the Foundation EPI is to support disadvantaged young people who are at risk of dropping out of school due to social and learning deficits. To support these young people, teaching staff need to be hired. L.C. Mameranus has allocated a contribution of 5,000 euros to this initiative. The support also extends to the cultural sphere, and in this case, to music. The prestigious “Forum for Flute and Piano” is an international summer course for flautists and pianists from all over the world. The Forum was founded by Carlo Jans, professor at the Conservatoire de Musique de Paris. For this year's anniversary edition, L.C. Mameranus partially covered the registration fees of two Ukrainian musicians.
Electronic canes for blind people
The Lions Club Mameranus is also supporting a project to develop electronic canes for the blind. These are designed to transmit to the user, via an accessory device, information on his or her current position, offers on public transport, and so on.
Support for the “Marfan Syndrome Luxembourg” association
The “Marfan Syndrome Luxembourg” association (a mental illness) aims to offer those affected the opportunity to be examined in a multidisciplinary consultation in Luxembourg, in order to establish a diagnosis.
