New hope for young families
Generous donation for Alupse asbl
In June, representatives of Soroptimist Luxembourg Moselle, Lions Amitié, Rotary Luxembourg Horizon and the Kiwanis Foundation presented a cheque for 4,500 euros to Dr Seligmann, president of the Alupse association, at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg.
The donation came from the proceeds of the "New Hope" charity concert, which replaced the traditional New Year's concert of the clubs. This concert took place on 20 May at the Conservatoire, under the patronage of the City of Luxembourg and the Ministry for Family and Integration. Grace Gnad, Paul Kayser, Pierre Kremer, Paul Mootz, Gary Muller, Vincent Felly and the Luxembourg Little Big Band, accompanied by the young students of the percussion class of the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg under the direction of Emmanuel Baudry, captivated the audience. It should be noted that this was the 13th time that these clubs have jointly organised a charity concert in favour of disadvantaged or distressed children or young people in Luxembourg.
During the cheque presentation, Dr Seligmann thanked the musicians and the organisers for their commitment. He then gave an overview of the missions and activities of Alupse and explained that the donation will be used for the "BébéBox" project. This project is inspired by a Finnish model and its objectives are to create a closer link with disadvantaged families, to offer them the possibility of welcoming their baby in a safe and minimalist space and to provide them with basic necessities, allowing them to take care of their baby. In this way, the four service clubs and the musicians are giving new hope to young families through their joint action. The next date is 8 January 2023 for the 14th edition of the New Year's concerts.
