Success for the "Wai-Firwëtzkëscht
The Lions Club Doyen supports the Luxembourg Food Bank.
Recently, the Lions Club Doyen donated the proceeds of its "Wai-Firwëtzkëscht" action to the Banque Alimentaire, the association whose purpose is to collect donations and foodstuffs and distribute them to the most needy through the exclusive channel of approved charities in Luxembourg.
Faced with the restrictions imposed by Covid-19, in the impossibility of proceeding with the traditional collection of foodstuffs for the Food Bank from the customers of a chain of supermarkets, the club had to innovate: With the help of a sponsor it was possible to make a sale of surprise cases of wine from all horizons - a "Firwëtzkëscht" - an action which met with great success and which made it possible to collect the sum of 30,000 euros. The cheque was handed over by the president of the Lions Club Doyen, Henri Steinmetz, to Georges Kieffer and Jean-Claude Tasch, in charge of the Food Bank. The money will be used to replenish the food stock.
The Lions Club Doyen thanked the buyers of a "Wai-Firwëtzkëscht" for having contributed to the functioning of the Food Bank in these times of pandemic.
